Nothing brings neighbors together faster than an ice cream truck. So, to celebrate Giant Eagle’s role as the Midwest’s favorite “Neighborhood Grocery Store,” we made our own! Then, we hit the road to serve up smiles (and scoops of our store-brand ice cream) to the communities we're so proud to be a part of. All to show how truly sweet it is to be part of the neighborhood.
To kick off the summer tour, we created a lighthearted :15s ice cream themed TV spot set to a sunny (and custom recorded) ukulele cover of Louis Armstrong’s immortal classic, “When You’re Smiling.” Unfortunately, when the Omicron wave of Covid hit, the spot was pulled from the plan… But, the tour smiled on!
From July through August, the Giant Eagle Ice Cream Truck made its way from Pittsburgh to Cleveland to Columbus, stopping at dozens of local parks, hospitals, museums, and (of course) supermarkets along the way.
The fun thing about an ice cream truck is that it also makes a great photo booth ;) #KeepOnSmiling
